Curry Leaves Tambli


Today's post is on Curry Leaves Tambli.


So Tambli is derived from Kannada word "Thampu" which actually means "cooling /cold". (Source: Wikipedia). Some facts about Tambli:


👉 It is a coconut and yogurt based curry served as side dish.

👉 It is the most common food in Karnataka (India).

👉 It is similar to raita but not exactly the same.

👉 It cools our body and aids in digestion. So we can call it as a perfect summer food.

Curry leaf - the one leaf that we often think which just for flavour and throw it from our plate (Karuveppilai). These leaves not only add flavour to our food, but it comes with lot of nutritional benefits. They are rich in iron and calcium too.


Lets get on to the post.


Ingredients:


Curry leaves 1 cup

Coconut grated 3 tbsp

Buttermilk 1 cup

Cumin Seeds 1 tsp

Green Chilli 1


To temper:


Mustard Seeds 1 tsp

Red Chilli 1

Urad Dal 1/2 tsp


Method:


1. Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds, curry leaves and green chilli. Saute them until the leaves turn crisp.

2. Transfer them into a mixer jar. Grind it along with grated coconut into a fine paste adding little water.

3. Add salt and buttermilk to the ground paste.

4.Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, urad dal and red chilli. Once they splutter, pour the tadka over the curry leaves tambli.
