Kadha is an ayurvedic drink made with herbs and spices. They are usually boiled in water to extract the benefits of the herbs/spices.
Today's post is "Immunity Boosting Kadha". Incorporating spices in the diet improves our immunity. The ingredients that are used in this Kadha helps to ease the cold and flu symptoms, improves the immunity and helps our body to fight infection. Well, I'am not a nutritionist by profession, but I do some kind of research in the food and try to share my knowledge through the recipes and posts :).
Coming on to this post, the ingredients that are used have extensive health benefits.
Ginger - helps in removing toxins from the respiratory tract, helps to cure cold & cough
Cinnamon - loaded with anti-oxidants, reduces heart disease risk factors and is anti-inflammatory
Ajwain - good for digestion, prevents coughing and improves the air-flow
Black pepper - helps in treating respiratory diseases
Cardamom - lowers blood pressure, anti-inflammatory, improves breathing & stimulates better oxygen intake
Star Anise - improves digestion
Jaggery - natural cleansing agent for the body, cleans the respiratory tract, lungs,intestine, stomach and food pipe
Ingredients:
Ginger 1 inch grated
Cinnamon Stick 2 to 3
Ajwain Seeds few
Black Pepper few
Cloves 4 to 5
Jaggery to taste
Cardamom Pod 2
Star Anise 1
Basil leaves few
Method:
Add 2 cups of water and bring it to a boil.
Add all the ingredients to the boiling water. Mix it.
Simmer for 10 to 15 minutes, until the concoction reduces to half and turns brown.
Strain the concoction, top it up with basil leaves and enjoy hot.
Note:
As always, too much of anything is very bad to health. Drinking too much of this concoction might cause acidity, heartburn. So have it in moderation, stay healthy & stay safe !
