In a food world full of fancy dals ranging from the King of Dal, which is Dal Makhni ,to a very popular Dal Tadka, there exists a humble dal that is healthy, delish, quick to prepare and requires no jazzy cooking. It is the basic yellow dal that just requires some tadka from the masala box and cooked to perfection in a jiffy. My mom makes this quite often and it’s my favourite and my dad’s favourite too😊
This yellow dal is :
👉 healthy because it uses moong dal which is high in nutrients & anti-oxidants.
👉 simple to make because it requires some tadka such as mustard seeds, cumin seeds & red chilli from the masala box
And the addition of lime gives a perfect tangy twist to this dal.
Ingredients: Moong Dal 1 cup Green Chilli 1 Turmeric Powder pinch Mustard Seeds 1 tsp Cumin Seeds 1 tsp Fenugreek Seeds 1/2 tsp Red Chilli 1 Salt to taste Asafoetida pinch Ghee Juice from 1 lemon Coriander Leaves few Method: 💧Pressure cook moong dal along with a slit green chilli & turmeric powder for 4 whistles. Once done, mash them thoroughly. 💧 Heat ghee in a pan. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, red chilli & fenugreek seeds & allow it to splutter. 💧Once they splutter, pour the tadka over the cooked moong dal. 💧Add salt, asafoetida. Mix well and simmer for 2 to 3 minutes. 💧Switch off the flame. Add a juice of lemon. Mix well. Garnish with coriander leaves. 💧Serve hot with roti or plain rice or Jeera rice. I served it with Jeera rice.3h
