Today's post is on a simple South Indian dessert called "Paal Poli". These are made during festivals and special occasions. "Paal" means milk and poli is the puri. So it is technically the puri that is immersed in sweetened milk 😅.

If you are vegan, you can substitute milk with Coconut milk. Lets get on to the post.

Ingredients:

Milk 1/2 litre

Cashews 10

Cardamom pods 1 or 2

Sugar 4 tbsp

For the puris:

Maida / Wheat 1 cup

Salt to taste

Oil for deep frying

Water

Method:

1. Soak the cashews in hot milk for 15 minutes. Then grind it into a smooth paste.

2. Boil the milk in low flame. The quantity of the milk has to be reduced to .

3. Once the quantity of the milk starts reducing, add cardamom pods and sugar.

4. You can also add the ground cashew paste to it to give a thick creamy consistency.

5. Next make puris. Add maida and wheat to a vessel. Slowky add water and knead into a soft dough. Roll it into circles and deep fry in oil.

6. Now arrange the puris onto a plate. Pour the hot milk over them. Top it up with grated almonds and enjoy hot / cold.
