Spicy Onion Pickle

Summer is here. Time for making some awesome pickles.

After the success of the brinjal pickle, tried making this Onion pickle. Must say, it was just awesome. This is a very easy and delicious pickle which goes very well with idli, dosa, Chapathi. Or it can be had even with steamed rice.

Ingredients:

Onions (big) 7

Green Chilli 10

Tamarind big lemon sized

Turmeric powder a pinch

Hing a pinch

Mustard Seeds

Fenugreek Seeds

Sesame Oil

Method:

1. Soak tamarind and green chillies in little hot water for 15 minutes.

2. Peel the skins of the Onion. And chop them into medium sized pieces.

3. Heat oil in a pan. When hot, add onions and saute it for a minute.

4. Switch off the flame and allow it to cool.

5. Now transfer the soaked tamarind and green chillies along with the water(used for soaking) into the mixer and blend it into a paste.

6. Then add the onions along with it and bring it into a fine paste.

7. Heat oil in a pan.

8. Add mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds to the oil. When they splutter, add the ground paste.

9. Add turmeric powder, salt and hing it.

10. Saute it well until the oil separates from the paste.

11. Switch off the flame.

12. Cool it and then put it in a airtight container.
