Curry Powder (Kai Podi)


Today's post is "Curry Powder". A powder that can be prepared using Bengal gram dal, coriander seeds and red chillies. This can be used for most of the vegetable curries / vegetable fry, that we prepare. Trust me, it adds a great flavour to the vegetable dish that we prepare.


I learnt this from one of my dear colleagues mother in law, who is a great cook. I cherish those days with my best buddy & colleague.


Let's get on to the post.


Ingredients:


Coriander Seeds 2 cups

Chana Dal 1 cup

Red Chilli 10

Pepper 1 tsp

Fenugreek Seeds 2 tsp

Cumin Seeds 1 tsp

Curry Leaves (as per taste / need)

Asafoetida a pinch


Method:

  1. Fry all the ingredients in little oil or you can dry roast too.

  2. Once done, allow it to cool. Powder it into a coarse powder.

  3. Store it in a air tight container.
