Today's post is on dried sundakkai. Wondering what's so interesting with dried sundakkai? Well, dried Sundakkai has lots of health benefits. They (are):

👉 Anti-bacterial and anti-fungal

👉 Good for digestion

👉 Iron rich that is beneficial for treating anemia

👉 Good for controlling diabetes

👉 Good for heart as it contains essential amino acids

👉 Good for treating intestinal worms

👉 Prevents kidney disease

The primary reason why I chose dried sundakkai is to inculcate gardening practices at home. How nice it is to cook food using the items grown in your very own garden ! We have a very small garden at home growing tomatoes, cauliflower, guava, avocado, Sundakkai, capsicum, green chilli, basil leaves, Karpuravalli leaves, curry leaves and roses.

The process of making this dried sundakkai is very simple.

Method:

  1. Clean the sundakkai thoroughly.

  2. Rinse and dry them well. Make a slit on the head of the sundakkai.

  3. Add buttermilk and salt to a vessel. Add the sundakkai to it.

  4. Drain the buttermilk and spread it over a vessel. Dry it in hot sun for 3 to 5 days.

This dried sundakkai can be used to prepare Kuzhambu and Kootu.
