Methi Khakras

Are you looking for a snack that is healthy and at the same time very appetizing? Then you must try these Khakras. Crunchy, light and roasted, it is a very popular delicacy in Gujarat. They can be had alone or can be had with little ghee spread over and masala powder sprinkled on it. There are many varieties of Khakras. Here I will show you how to make methi khakras. The secret to making a crispy one depends on how thin you roll out the dough.


Ingredients:


Whole Wheat flour 1.5 cup

Ajwain seeds 1 tsp

Kasuri Methi 2 tsp

Hing a pinch

Chilli powder 1/2 tsp

Salt to taste

Water to knead

Oil


Method:


1. Add the whole wheat flour, ajwain seeds, kasuri methi, hing, chilli powder and salt into a bowl.

2. Add a tsp of oil to it.

3. Start kneading the dough by adding water.

4. Form a smooth dough and allow it to rest for 15 to 30 minutes.

5. Divide it into small medium sized balls.

6. Roll them into a very thin circles using rolling pin.

7. Heat a tava. Once the tava turns hot, turn it into low flame.

8. Roast the khakras on the tava pressing with the cotton cloth or wooden press. Repeat for both sides until they turn crispy and brown.

9. Let them cool for 15 minutes. Then transfer them into airtight container.
