Happy Saturday my friends 🌟🌟. Today's post is Aloo Bonda (Potato stuffed fritters). Well, Bonda is a deep fried South Indian potato based snack. When served hot, they are very crispy and delish. Bonda with a cup of coffee / tea is a bliss to have especially in monsoon season 😅.
Ingredients:
Potato 4 big
Carrot 1
Green Peas 1/4 cup
Green Chillies 1 or 2
Salt to taste
Turmeric Powder pinch
Juice of lime 1 tsp
Oil for deep frying
For the batter:
Besan Flour 1 cup
Rice flour 1/4 cup
Salt to taste
Hing pinch
Red Chilli Powder 1 tsp
Food Color (Optional)
Method:
1. Prepare the filling:
Pressure cook the vegetables for 4 whistles. Boil green peas until soft. Once done, mash the potatoes and mix well with the rest of the veggies.
Add salt, turmeric powder, green chillies and mix well.
Allow the stuffing to cool. Add a tsp of lime juice.
Mix well and make a medium sized balls. Keep it aside.
2. Prepare the batter:
In a bowl, add besan flour, rice flour, salt, hing, red chilli powder and little food color (Orange). Adding food colour is optional.
Add water little by little. Mix well so that it is of dosa batter consistency. The batter should not be very thick nor very thin.
3. Deep fry:
Heat oil in a pan.
Dip the potato stuffings into the batter.
Drop it into the oil gently. Deep fry in medium flame until the bonda turns golden brown.
Once done, place it in a tissue to remove the excess oil.
Serve hot with chutney or ketchup.
