PCOS Diet - Recipe 5 - Moong Dal Chila

"Eat plant-based and protein rich food to combat PCOS"

When you eat protein rich food, it keeps you full for longer time. So it curbs your hunger cravings, that aids in weight loss. Even a small weight loss can improve insulin resistance, hormone levels and combat PCOS.

Today's post is "Moong Dal Chila".

Moong dal is an easily digestible dal, extremely light and high in protein. It is packed with fibre and plant-based proteins. So this is a high protein dish, filled with loads of antioxidants thereby:

👉 boosting immunity

👉 reducing inflammation

👉 helping to balance the hormones

And this is a low carbohydrate meal too.

Ingredients:

Moong Dal 1 cup

Onion 1

Cabbage 1/2 cup

Carrots 1/2 cup

Ginger 1 inch

Coriander leaves few

Asafoetida pinch

Green Chilles 1

Turmeric Powder pinch

Cumin Seeds 1 tsp

Method:

  1. Soak moong dal in water for 3 to 4 hours. Grind it into a smooth batter adding water little by little.

  2. Add salt, turmeric powder, cumin seeds, green chillies, coriander leaves, grated ginger, chopped onions, shredded carrots and cabbage. Mix well.

  3. And asafoetida, mix well and allow the batter to rest for half an hour.

  4. Heat a tawa. Add a ladle of the batter and spread it gently. Cover the tawa with a lid and cook the chila for couple of minutes until the sides starts browning. Flip it gently and cook for a minute.

  5. Serve hot with any chutney of your choice. I paired it with Onion Tomato Chutney.
