What is your favourite childhood snack 😃? For me, it is Thukkada. We call it as diamond chips. It is a deep fried snack made out of maida (all purpose flour) mixed with red chilli powder. It is very crunchy. This can be made using whole wheat too if you require a healthy version.
Ingredients:
Maida 1 cup
Red Chilli powder 1 tsp
Asafoetida a pinch
Water to knead
Salt to taste
Oil for frying
Method:
1. Take the maida in a bowl.
2. Add asafoetida, red chilli powder, salt, a tsp of oil to it.
3. Knead it into a soft dough adding water.
4. Take a small portion of this dough and roll it out like Chapathi. The rolled portion should not be very thick nor very thin.
5. Cut them into diamond shapes.
6. Heat oil in a pan.
7. When hot, add the diamond shaped thukkadas into the oil and deep fry in medium flame.
8. Once they are crisp, take it out from the oil and store it in airtight container.
