Gurkensalat (German Cucumber Salad)


Salads 🥗 !!! They are an important part of a healthy diet. As they are loaded with vitamins, minerals, eating salads every day will improve the immunity and antioxidants in our body. Do you add salads to your diet? What's your favourite salad?


Today I show you how to make "Gurkensalat". It translates to German Cucumber Salad. This is a very popular salad in Northern Germany. It is made with Sour Cream or yogurt. I chose to make the salad with yogurt.


Consuming Cucumbers have immense health benefits. To name a few, they (are):

👉 high in antioxidants

👉 promotes hydration

👉 lowers blood sugar

👉 aids in weight loss

👉 high in nutrients

👉 low in calories


Let's see how to make this.


Ingredients:


Cucumber 1

Onion 1

Mustard Sauce little

Fenugreek (Dill) Leaves (preferably fresh leaves, but I used dried leaves)

Yogurt 1/4 cup (depends on your taste)

Pepper powder 1 tsp

Salt to taste


Method:


Prepare the Cucumbers 🥒 :

  • Slice cucumber into very thin slices. Add salt and keep it aside for 20 minutes.

  • I didn't peel the Cucumber. You can peel them if you like it that way.


Prepare the Yogurt dressing:

  • Combine yogurt (I blended it to get a creamy consistency), fenugreek leaves, salt, pepper powder, mustard sauce. Mix well. The dressing is ready.

  • The mustard sauce is optional. I added it for an additional kick.


Prepare the Salad:

  • Drain the water from the cucumber completely.

  • Add the cucumbers and chopped onions to a bowl.

  • Pour the yogurt dressing over it.

  • Mix well.


How to serve:


Refrigerate it for minimum 30 minutes before serving. The more time it is marinated in the fridge, the more flavorful it will be as the cucumbers and onions will blend very well with the yogurt mixture.
